Technology Is Not the Solution
Why magically disruptive new tech isn’t the answer to our biggest problems

Let’s not get off on the wrong foot. I’m a big fan of new technology. Innovation is an entrepreneur’s best friend.
But if you’ve read me lately, you’ll definitely come to the conclusion that I’m not 100 percent in love with how technology has exacerbated problems within the tech industry itself, and most recently, how it has mangled the tech job market.
Almost no one can find a job in tech these days. And it’s a bigger issue than most people realize. I know this because whenever I write about the problems with our broken hiring system, the feedback I hear most often is, “I thought that was just happening to me.”
Now, when you’ve done as much research on a problem as I have on tech hiring, and you shake your fist at the clouds of the problem as much as I have, you’re also kind of obligated to maybe offer a solution every now and then.
And yeah, I’ve been working on solutions for the last several months. In fact, last week, I had an offer made to me by a friend and his team to essentially “build the tech” for my solution. You know, at least get a prototype up and running.
