Oh, it wasn't shameless. I'm neck deep in shame these days.

So my paid newsletter is built of the strategy I was using for Teaching Startup -- and in fact, has absorbed Teaching Startup as of late last year. The premise for Teaching Startup was/is -- my consulting/advising is prohibitively expensive and thus helps only a handful of people but quite a lot. My "free" writing (usually sponsored by a publisher so I can't be as bold as I'd like) helps millions of people but only a little bit. The paid newsletter sits in between. How many people can I help at an affordable price point? Since then, I've tweaked it a bit so that my public writing is aimed more to be humor, rants, and pointing at problems, while the private newsletter is more strategy and looking for answers. That seems to work for ME
