Absolutely. One of the smart things we did at my last two startups was bring in the right benefits and get to compliance early, like in the 10–20 employee range. Not only did this make growth easier, but it helped in recruiting too. It’s pricey, yes, but we balanced it out with things we didn’t need. No cool office, no beer Fridays, etc.
